    In earlier times, almost all old palaces had their own water supply. Usually under the building, huge water tanks were built. They were filled with water in the wet seasons for the purpose of use in the dry seasons.

  • A Cellar with History

    Hidden beneath the Prijeko Palace lies a unique piece of Dubrovnik’s past. A former water tank, now transformed into the wine cellar of Restaurant Stara Loza. Once used to collect fresh water for the palace, this fully arched space of 16 m² and 3 to 4 meters in height now houses up to 2,000 bottles of carefully selected wines. Guests are welcome to visit the cellar, explore its atmospheric charm, and handpick a bottle for their meal.
